What are ABS and Brainspotting Intensives and can they work for me?

These therapeutic methods have helped thousands of people naturally heal painful memories, emotional distress, and change limiting beliefs.

ABS (Alternating Bilateral Stimulation), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Brainspotting, and Hypnotherapy (Hypnotic Psychotherapy) allow for adaptive information processing, which helps the brain transform negative limiting beliefs (which I believe are the sources of all conditions of despair) into positive adaptive beliefs.

The original form of EMDR used eye movements to help the brain fall into a state similar to REM sleep, access disturbances, and then reprocess the beliefs associated with the disturbance in a more adaptable manner. Over the years, EMDR research has shown that it was actually the bilateral repetitive movements that evoked the possibility for brain reprocessing (not connected to eye movements). I use the most modern techniques of Alternating Bilateral Stimulation (ABS) to activate brain reprocessing, including alpha wave and vibrational sounds, rhythmic somatic tapping, eye movement/positioning, and/or a tapping device (TheraTapper™).

During the last phase of ABS therapy, positive adaptation processing, or when using stand-alone brainspotting or hypnotic therapy, I incorporate powerful therapeutic suggestions (new beliefs) into the subconscious mind, designed to support long-term, healthy mental change. The alternating bilateral movements or eye specific positioning, put you in a state similar to light sleep, you will be aware, but in a state of deep relaxation and dual awareness, where suggestibility is at its peak.

2. In Person (In my San Diego, CA office)

Please Note: Under my California clinical license, services are only available to clients who are physically in California (this can be in-person or online). If you do not live in California, you may arrange to fly here and receive therapy services.  
Anyone, anywhere in the world can purchase online programs to work on healing at their own pace! I have designed tailored programs to meet a variety of individual needs using other integrative  bilateral stimulation, brainspotting, and immersive sound and vibrational therapy.

Question 3

How often do we meet for sessions?

Treatment episodes are designed as 90-minute and 3-hour sessions. After your initial Intensive session, other disturbances may come up, and they may not. You may purchase sessions as needed and work through residual issues. Resolving complex trauma or deeply ingrained maladaptive emotional patterns usually takes more than one session.

How much does therapy cost?

Neo-Balance Mind Therapy & Recovery©℠ ABS and Brainspotting treatment sessions are signature, customized, immersive, and integrated experiences that include pre-evaluation suites and treatment workbooks. Thus, fees are based on the program design and are communicated ahead of time in accordance with the No Surprises Act. -My fee for weekday intensive therapy is $250/hour with sessions lasting 1.5 hours. 
-My fee for weekend and evening intensive therapy is $320/hour (only available by direct request). 
-I also offer Installment Payment Plans. 
-I offer a free 15-minute consultation for psychotherapy clients and intensive clients. You may also email me with general questions and correspondence before our intensive (typically done via live video session). 
-The rate for talk therapy or standard weekly psychotherapy, Clarity Counseling, is $245/hour ($165 if you book recurring sessions)
-The rate for couples therapy is $255/hour with sessions lasting 1-1.5 hours
($185 if you book recurring sessions)
-You may be able to use your insurance to cover costs.

Can I use my insurance to pay for services?

ABS & Brainspotting Intensives (90 min and 3 hours Sessions), 1.5 hour Couples Sessions, and other psychotherapy products/programs are Self-Pay, Out-Of-Pocket services.

You may use insurance for  Clarity Counseling (Individual Mental Health) (60 min) or
Standard Couples Sessions 
If:
You are a Medi-Cal client and have an accepted managed care plan (call for details). 
OR
Your Commercial Plan is In-Network: Health Net, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of CA, Aetna, Optum/United Healthcare, Cigna/EverNorth, Sharp (through Magellan), Oxford (Optum), Magellan, Quest Behavioral Health, Carelon Behavioral Health
I will provide an invoice that you may be able to submit to your commercial insurance provider for reimbursement if out of network. However, it is best to determine the exact details of your policy ahead of time, as some services may not be covered. EVEN IF I am in-network with your insurance provider, I will NOT submit claims for Intensives or Extended Couples Therapy services OR provide a Superbill, as the structures are not traditional.
You will need to sign a Good Faith Estimate before any services are rendered. Good Faith Estimates outline the costs of services and are required by CA law.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

I will often offer discounted fees for services and products (usually during a monthly sale), rather than a traditional sliding scale rate.

I am ABS (EMDR), Brainspotting, and hypnotherapy trained through several entities to include the EMDR International Association, Hypnosis Motivation Institute, Marisa Peer’s Rapid Transformational Therapy®, and the Professional Education Systems Institute.

I have also engaged in additional training workshops facilitated by a range of complex trauma and clinical psychology experts.

I have been a behavioral counselor for over 15 years, have been practicing psychotherapy for 10 years, and am a current Board of Behavioral Science clinical supervisor, providing oversight for several associate therapists. I have been committed to staying well-informed on healing modalities, research, and evidence-based treatments. I also consult often with other licensed psychotherapists. I am committed to supporting clients through the healing journey using straightforward, powerful, and effective techniques.
